TuksNetball wins big at Tshwane Women in Sports Awards

On 16 February, TuksNetball won a total of four awards at the 2021 Tshwane Women in Sports Awards of Tshwane Sports Confederation. While Spar won the Sponsor of the Year, the team’s coach, Jenny van Dyk, won Coach of the Year. The team also managed to win the Most Promising Team of the Year, and Riana Bezuidenhout won the President’s Award.

Bridget Theunissen wins silver medal in triathlon

TuksTriathlon star Bridget Theunissen, came second in the elite women’s category at the 2022 Africa Triathlon Cup, which took place at Maselspoort in the Free State on 13 February. Theunissen’s aim is to improve to be able to represent South Africa in Birmingham for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

TuksCyclists leave competition behind in Graskop

TuksCyclists and alumni took Graskop by storm on 12 February, with Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg winning the 169 km race, with Willie Smut coming in second and Andries Nigrini finishing 12th. Janse van Rensburg and Smit both graduated from UP while Nigrini is a current UP student. Meanwhile, first-year student Anneke van der Walt, managed to finish fourth in the 20 km women’s under-23 time trial, and came in 10th in the road race.
