UP student Thabiso Molefe was injured on Wednesday 16 May, when an Odyssey Security Services car, which was towing a trailer, hit him. The accident occurred in Lynnwood Road near the university’s main entrance.
According to the university Molefe “sustained injuries to his left leg and was taken to hospital.”
An eyewitness, Isaac Mammushi, said that Molefe crossed the road but did not use the pedestrian crossing at the robots. “The student crossed the road [and] the robot changed to green. The driver didn’t see him and so the trailer hit him,” he said.
One of the passengers in the car, who wanted to remain anonymous, told Perdeby that Molefe admitted that the accident was his own fault and not the driver’s.
