Clarke returned from the hospital on a drip shortly before the countdown to 75 hours. The two reached the 75 hour mark just before 21:00.
The team set up a studio in a soundproof van at Hatfield Square. According to Caige, a year’s planning went into the attempt and him and Clarke spent the last month putting together a programme which included a celebration around St Patrick’s Day, a tie-in with Idols, talks with Tuks FM alumni and visits by some of South Africa’s leading bands and musicians.
“A dream of mine, way back, like two, three years ago, I said one of two things [sic]. One, go for a Guinness World Record and two, before I leave Tuks FM, get a headline at Pretoria News,” Caige said on air.The duo made it onto the front page of Pretoria News yesterday. Caige said that he wouldn’t want to share a front page with anyone but Clarke.
According to a press release, the DJs hope to attempt the record again next year.
