Robert Plant, aged 66, is most famous for being the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Plant continues to perform for his fans even today. Plant, who auditioned for Led Zeppelin in 1968, has just released a new solo album entitled Lullaby and… the Ceaseless Roar with his band, the Sensational Space Shifters, and is currently touring in the UK.
The Rolling Stones, one of the most well-known rock bands in the world have not stopped performing for almost 50 years. Having been knighted for his services to music in 2003, lead singer Mick Jagger remains one of the most iconic lead singers in music history to date.
Singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, aged 73, is best known for his songs that encompass the ideas of political change and the civil rights movements of the 60s. Dylan has toured so much that his tour has been dubbed as the Never Ending Tour, paying tribute to the tiresome effort he puts into his music. Dylan released a new album entitled Tempest in 2012.
Tony Bennett is an American pop singer who is known for his show tunes and jazz music. Bennett continues to tour at the ripe age of 88. Having just done a collaboration album with Lady Gaga entitled Cheek to Cheek that was released this year in September, Bennett recently played in Israel for the first time with his jazz quartet. Bennett has won numerous Grammy Awards in his lifetime.
These great musicians are what keep the wonder that is music alive today. It is through their efforts in delivering music to their fans that listeners can truly be grateful for the legacy they leave for future generations of musicians As Bob Dylan puts it, “A lot of people can’t stand touring but to me it’s like breathing. I do it because I’m driven to do it.”
