Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first standalone Star Wars film and is set for release on 16 December 2016. Due to its close release date, a number of announcements were made regarding the film. A behind-the-scenes trailer was released revealing new droids and alien races. The film will also premiere a new planet called Scarif, which was featured on the new poster also unveiled at the conference. A publicly unreleased video was shown at the end of the Rogue One panel that showed major series villain Darth Vader, much to the excitement of the crowd.

A number of announcements about Star Wars Rebels, the Star Wars animated series on Disney XD, were also made. Grand Admiral Thrawn, a villain in the Star Wars expanded universe, will premiere in season three of the series. It was also made known that future episodes of the series will intertwine with Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Darth Maul, a fan-favourite character, was also shown in great detail.

Star Wars Battlefront, the first person shooter game released in November 2015, also had a bit to show at the conference. The third expansion for the game, titled Death Star, will feature hero Chewbacca and villain Bossk as playable characters. The fourth and final expansion for the game will revolve around Rogue One, tentatively set for release this holiday season.

Finally, progress has been made on the standalone film revolving around a young Han Solo. 26-year-old actor Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as the beloved Star Wars smuggler-turned-rebel-general. The film is tentatively titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story and is set for release on 25 May 2018.
