After the short recess break and Round 4 being postponed to later in the season. We are finally back with more Res Rugby action and it involved high scores and close-cut action.
OP Village had a try fest, scoring seven tries to win the match 47-7 against House Tau. Three of these tries were long distance with a lot of pace and sleek ball handling skills. It is clear that the hard work of the forward pack paid off as they secured the ball for the backline. The defending champions started to find some serious form, which led to keeping the rest of the division on their toes.
However, Sonop vs House Mopane was a tighter match with the first points being scored on the brink of halftime by Sonop. Sonop’s second half drop goal conversion added more pressure on Mopane with the clock ticking down. Mopane did manage to score a try but could not build momentum from it. Sonop played the territorial game to their advantage and won the match 10-5.
This round had great rugby and an even better atmosphere with whips, vuvuzelas and drums being played to ignite the fire within the teams. Come down for the next round and experience some unique student culture for yourself!
