Rhodes University
Rhodes University came to a standstill as a result of the #RhodesMIPmustFall. Rhodes students closed down the campus due to the Minimum Initial Payment of 50% which the university requires from students. Although the protest was peaceful, police officers fired stun grenades at unarmed students.

On 22 October, media relations officer Catherine Deiner released a statement, saying, “After assessing the situation on campus, university activities have been suspended for the rest of the week.”
