Shortly afterwards, Nigeria registered another shot on goal, which missed by a few inches. Nigeria kept pressure on Iran’s defenders and goalkeeper and dominated possession. Iran’s defence was strong to deny the Nigerians.

By half time, Nigeria had dominated the field with five total shots to Iran’s total shots of one.
In the second half, neither side let down its defence.

Victor Moses kept Iran’s defenders busy and constantly pushed forward. Haghighi did well to block all attempts on goal.

With the game drawing to a close both teams frantically began to try to gain possession of the ball and to take their chance of securing a victory.

Iran will play against Argentina on 21 June and Nigeria against Bosnia and Herzegovina on the same day.
