The Independent Electoral Committee (IEC) announced on Monday 5 September that the voting period of the SRC elections would be extended to Friday 9 September at 12:00.
The announcement follows an earlier announcement where the IEC noted problems with the voting system where students did not receive their login details in order to vote. The issue has since been resolved.
Michael Makobe, the Chief Electoral officer (CEO) of the IEC, confirmed that voting would close this coming Friday at 12:00 whereafter the preliminary results will be made public. Students will have until Monday 12 September to raise any objections to the preliminary results.
Once all objections have been dealt with, a meeting with the Independent Monitoring Body (IMB) will take place and should the elections be deemed free and fair by the IMB, the final results will be published.
