UP SRC released a statement noting the brutal murder of Nosicelo Mtebeni, a final-year LLB student at the University of Fort Hare (UFH). “UP SRC stands in solidarity with UFH students as they grieve and call for justice for Nosicelo. She was more than a heartbreaking news headline, she was a … hope for her family and community”.

The SRC stands in accord with UFH students on the call for a thorough investigation and prompt delivery of justice for Nosicelo
and her family. “To the women of South Africa: we encourage those who can; to speak up and speak out … you are more than a statistic. You are a life to be valued and protected”.
