After the abovementioned media releases, Sasco released a statement explaining their position on the matter. In the statement, Sasco says that, “The Progressive Youth Alliance (PYA) of the University of Pretoria (Sasco, ANCYL and YCLSA) fully rejects the findings as conducted by the IMB. We distance ourselves from communiqué sent to our candidates and not the organisation representing them, and we reject the IMB’s call for a recount.” Sasco reiterated that they are standing by their position and are calling for a re-election.
